Spirit Trees

Ongoing Series since 2009

I am a visual artist dedicated to capturing the unseen, translating a dream-guided directive into a body of work entitled “Spirit Trees." Inspired by Native American Elders who instructed me to look up in the woods and listen to the Ancestor's voices, I capture the spirit faces residing within the tree tops. The spirits are willing to reveal themselves through my lens, seeking my help to aid in healing the Earth.

My artistic process is a blend of sacred guidance and technical precision. The images are are composed in-camera with exactitude. I use the camera as a tool for fine art storytelling, creating archival pigment prints on Epson Bright White paper. Inspired by Benoit Mandelbrot’s discovery of fractals in nature, I begin with a single image and rotate it at least three times in Photoshop. When these segments meet in the center, they form an infinite, revealing, and repeating pattern that transforms organic reality into a large-scale fractal construction.

The spine of the image tells the story. While the photographs are entirely devoid of human presence, a stunning surprise occurs when the same image is placed next to itself, causing faces, body parts, animals, and creatures to emerge from the foliage. My vision is to provide a space for quiet reflection, as being in nature brings me peace. I hope to bridge the gap between the human world and the spiritual voices of the forest, inviting viewers to discover whatever the Spirit Trees wish to show them in their quest to help the Earth.
